Thanksgiving dinner - stuffing

Wir waren vor einiger Zeit zu einem "Thanksgiving dinner" bei Freunden aus den USA eingeladen. Dort wurde als Beilage zum Truthahn "stuffing" serviert. Also eigentlich eine Art Füllung für den Vogel, die man aber als Beilage reichen kann. Da ich selten so eine großartige Beilage zu Geflügel gegessen habe, bat ich um das Rezept, das ich unten einfüge. Man sollte allerdings etwas Englisch können (Überstztungshilfe bei leo).

"Here is the recipe for the stuffing from the Thanksgiving dinner.

185g butter
625g finely chopped yellow onion
375g finely chopped celery, including some leafy tops
5 teaspoons poultry seasoning
2 teaspoons dried thyme
1.5 kg firm white sandwich bread slices, 2 or 3 days old
5 eggs
1.5 liter chicken stock
20g minced fresh flat-leaf parsley
salt and ground pepper

In a large frying pan over medium heat, left the butter. Add the onion, celery, poultry seasoning, and thyme. Cover and cook, stirring once or twice, until tendoer, about 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature.

Using a serrated knife, trim the crusts from the bread and cut the slices into 12-mm cubes. (In a very large bowl, combine the bread and the onion mixture.

In another bowl, whisk the eggs until blended. Whisk in the stock. Stir the stock mixture into the bread mixture. Add the parsley, 2t salt, and 1.5t pepper. Stir well, breaking down the bread cubes to form a soft mass.

To bake the dressing alongside a turkey in a 165 degree oven, generously grease a 4-l baking dish. Spoon the dressing into the prepared dish and cover tightly with aluminum foil. Bake for 45 minutes. Uncover and continue to bake until the dressing is steaming hot, lightly browned on top, and well browned on the sides and bottom but still moist, 30-35 minutes longer. Serve hot.
